So now that Valentines is over do we all start getting ready for Christmas? It just seems mad that as soon as one thing is over the shops have some other event you NEED to celebrate. I call these Hallmark Holidays. Valentines was a lot of fun and I do enjoy making that little bit of effort. Even when I was a kid I used to make cards and drop them through a letterbox of some unsuspecting and usually uninterested girl in my area. I do feel the age of romance is dying so Valentines is a good idea to encourage people to make a little gesture of love. It also encourages people to make a move on someone they have been perving on for the year! This category I am glad to say I never fell into. Although when I was in my early twenties, I used to always head out on the town with some other single guys and try find girls that were all sad and lonely on Valentines night. Hot girls who may have had lower standards on that one night, because they were lonely. It rarely happened, as all the hot girls were on dates............................

I think true and lasting love and examples of good and lasting marriages are dying, sadly. So, yeah, we need days like Saint Valentine's Day, for just that reason. Best wishes, and Cudos!

Month of Love.
Oh, Paul. I would gladly be your valentine next year.
Holiday store Madness
Oh, Paul you are so right. Just when I get my money spend on one holiday the next time I go into the store there it is again; another holiday. Here in America we hit two for the price of one by putting out Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day merchandise out at the same time. In fact yesterday I was walking through the store and the Easter Bunnies almost jumped off the shelf into my arms.
Like you said, Christmas is the worst. It comes earlier and earlier every year in the stores. I read your blogs last December so I know you are a big Christmas lover and so are a lot of your fans. Me on the other hand I am not a big fan anymore; after being single a long time Christmas alone is not extremely fun. Besides by the time the actual day gets here I have been inundated with so much Christmas music, trees, lights, bell ringers, rude shoppers and santa that I am finally relieved when it's over.
I don't get all that excited about decorating and christmas music.(Though I did receive after Christmas a copy of your Christmas album from another one of your fans); so next years music is already sounding more exciting. LOL!! I'm not a scrooge but I find Christmas is much better with someone to share it with. I loved it as a kid. I loved it when I was in relationships but all the work of decorating just for me isn't needed.
Besides Christmas does seem to come around faster and faster the older you get. My birthday is about a month after Christmas and this coming year 2011 I will be 50. I'm wondering where did all the time went when I was supposed to be enjoying Christmas and swapping Valentine's cards and gifts. I agree with you that Valentine's Day is sort of a hallmark day but I also feel as you do that some of us need that day to make the effort to show our love.
I think women expect a lot more than men on Valentine's Day. I love flowers, candy, dinner out, romance its all good. I know I tell the people I love more than once a year that I love them but hope I never take it for granted as one never knows what tomorrow brings.
Oh you are not the only one who sent love letters or cards to unsuspecting people as a kid. I did it many, many times as a kid and as a teenager. I was always falling in love or had a crush on someone new. WOW, HOW EMBARRASSING IT SEEMS NOW. Oh well, Paul as least we put the effort out there for love.
P.S. I took myself on a date for Valentine's Day to the movies. I went to the opening day of the movie Valentines's Day. I treated myself to popcorn and a soda. I was polite and kind to myself and was exremely grateful I got to pick a chick flick as well. Does that count? LOL!!!
I got "It's Entertainment", yesterday and fell in love all over again. You guys rock! You were absolutely adorable through the entire show but I loved Doo Wacka Doo with the dancing and your twirling the lamp post. I hope I can see you all when you come to Everett, Washington in October. It is so much closer and easier to get to then Seattle.
I'm wishing you lots of love and happiness, Shirley (I love you Paul Byrom)

When you pack your bag. . . .
When you pack your bag for the promo, don't forget to pack the Sparkly Tie!
Interesting!
Thanks for sharing!By the way I work for Hallmark and the next holidays coming up are bonified-St.Patricks Day and Easter!!LOL
Paul, thanks for the updates.
Paul, thanks for the updates. Please DO post the link for Haiti relief somewhere on the CT site - I will also continue to check your myspace page for same. You may feel, sometimes, that their work is so much more "important" or "life changing" than yours, but never underestimate the power of music - it heals, it uplifts, it encourages, and your music certainly accomplishes great things. Can't wait to hear more from you. In the meantime, take care, practice your good voice habits, and have FUN on the promo tour with Damian!
blue people
You crack me up! hurry and comment- I wanna know if you actually slept through Avatar. I, too, thought I would not be able to endure the viewing- only went because friends were going. I was wrong. I found it brilliant and I only ever have read/watched LOTR and Hobbit in that genre. I love trees and it tears me apart to see them destroyed. I cried and actually awoke a few days later with that exact helicopter sound and the ding-ding of the "going backwards" warning machine destroying the last of the wood across the road from my bedroom window. Hope you will plant trees, lots of them - Johnny Appleseed style.
"A man can do worse than be a [climber/rider] of Birches" (Frost) if I have it right. I once rode Sweet Gums where now there are none and wiped away tears as I listened to pines snapping under the weight of ice storms which we seldom experienced south of Pine Mountain in Ga.
So, Paul, what do you think of the "blue people movie" having now experienced it? Internallize it? Gonna plant some trees with your nieces and nephews? One could do worse ...
hello to mr. swanky
Just wanted to say "hi" and tell you how much i loved doo wacka doo. Marvelous job. Enjoy your travels on the promo tour next week and take it easy on Damien. No Hooters or Victorias Secret.
Just a simple thank you
I love my IE cd and I play it all the time. My 4 year old son though has a different opinion on what is good music. But every time Doo Wacka Doo comes on he perks up and sings along! It's priceless! Just wanted to share the story. And say thank you for sharing your wonderful voice with us!

Paul, Speaking of love, I LOVE the sparkly tie you wore in IE! Very sharp! Hope you wear it some more
Keep up the fabulous work. Your voice sparkles, too.
Love for everyone!
Hi Paul, you are so funny. It shouldn't be that we need a special day to celebrate love, but it is nice that it brings it out in most people at least for one day! I just need someone to love...LOL
Hope your day was fun and that you still kept up with your tradition of secret Valentines cards. What the hec, have some fun eh! Loved your performances in the new DVD, however I was lucky enough to see you live for both the tapings. You sure have found your niche in singing and dancing...loads of fun.
I can't wait to see you again live, upfront and personal...hee hee, and will be begging for a meet and greet when you come to Rama where I work. A second pic with all of you would be so exciting to have. Keep up the great work, you are awsome...you are all awsome.
Have a wonderful day, you deserve it.
Cheers Kathie

Thanks Celtic Thunder
Thanks for being a "Romantic at Heart". Love makes the world around.
Also, thanks for reminding the voters in the Musician Contest that George plays numerous musical instruments. Websters dictionary describes a musician as, " a composer or performer of music; one who plays a musical instrument; skilled in music". Possibly, this covers a broader area than I think. Although I LOVE every member of Celtic Thunder, my unprofessional opinion of the person fitting that description is now No. 8 in the polls.
I am a number 1 fan of Celtic Thunder and have bought at least 50 of your CD/DVD's. I have a CD in every car/house/RV/Apt. that I reside, not to mention all the gifts to others.
Until you came along I never listened to tenor music. Now you and Andre are my favorites - in that order. Very few songs actually send chills over me. Your recordings are beautiful, but your live performances are the best - it's nice to see your smile of satisfaction afterwards knowing you gave your best....and, I'd smile to seeing the audience reaction.
Thanks to you and Celtic Thunder.
The next holiday is not
The next holiday is not Christmas, it's St.Patrick's Day, you should know that. True, we don't get the day off, but the stores are still filled with awesome Irishness.
man with a plan
Oh Swankybuns your such a guy
I tend to agree with when it comes to holiday hype but I did enjoy reading about your Valentines game plan. I wonder do the Irish lasses love your eyebrows as much as we do?
I must tell you that I get such a kick out of your Doo Wacka Doo number. I knew there was a great song and dance man lurking in rangy body of yours. I really hope I get to see more of him
The whole It's Entertainment DVD is delightful, I can not wait to see it live.
I give to Amnesty International, The World Wildlife fund and the Sierra Club but I will check out GOAL and see what I can do.
I can never decide if I am a love a dove or an egg >^,,^<
Okay now that I have stopped
Okay now that I have stopped laughing at the most eloquent way you put the whole valentines plan you used to put into action. Loved the rest of your blog and I can't wait to hear more about GOAL.
