Station Visit's - March 6, 2010
There is truly nothing in the world like these promo trips! Why? Well we all get split up to cover as much ground as possible, and when I say ground I mean PBS stations.
PBS is a truely unique product of American community. Its something, I feel every community should be proud of. To think that these stations are run predominantly on peoples donations is incredible. We recently visited one in Pennsylavania and were told that their funding for 2010 had been cut by 90% and that they expected the rest to go too....................

Love for Singing
Hey there Paul,
My brothers and I have been singing together ever since we were little and we have fallen in love with your music. We sing to it all the time and we watch the concerts all the time as well. We would love it if there was a time we can sing together with you guys. I think it would be magical for us. 5 of us brothers from a little island in the South Pacific on American Samoa singing with an amazing group Celtic Thunder would be a dream come true for us!
You guys are very inspirational and uplifting. We just love your music and help and inspire us to keep singing. We have been singing acapella and with piano only for quite some time. We love it and we share it with others all the time. Its also a blessing for us to share our talents with others to uplift their spirits and their souls in this hard times we live in now.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future as well as from the rest of the group. My email is hachauma@hotmail.com. Would love to hear from you and the group and maybe get together if God permits it!

PBS PROMO
hi Paul.i caught you and Damian on my local PBS station recently. you are a NUT!! i enjoyed you both so much, especially as it is probably as close as i will ever get to seeing any of you! PBS Specials
To: Paul Byrom:
3/21/2010:
As I told several other members of Celtic Thunder, I have seen all three of your PBS Specials, and I loved all three of them! To-day, I saw Celtic Woman, "Songs of the Heart", Celtic Thunder, "It's Entertainment" and Sarah Brightman's "Symphony" Concert, and these were the best shows on today. Frankly, I am proud of PBS, and I am proud of TCM, which is Turner Classic Movies. As I told George Donaldson, I wouldn't mind paying governmental taxes, if it would get rid of the dumb commercials and the bad programs. I have also said that I prefer some of the British programming to a lot of the American programming. I like the old British comedies better than many of to-day's American comedies.
As far as music goes, I also like Twelve Girls Band, from China, and Andre Bochelli, from Italy.
By the way, great job on that Doowaca song! It was hilarious! I heard "You Raised Me Up.", from Celtic Woman and, from Celtic Thunder. Both versions were great! Thanks. Best Wishes, and cudos!

Rephrase
4/6/2010:
I am rephrasing the earlier blog about the PBS Station Visits. On The Big Four Networks: ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox and on standard cable, frankly, most of the commercials are irritating or just plain bad. Most of the American programming, on regular television, are either irritating or bad. I love commercial-free, which is why I like Public Broadcasting Systems and Turner Classic Movies. I like original programming, and I like good programming, which is why I like Public Broadcasting Systems. Much of the British Programming, especially the British comedies, such as: Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served? Are You Being Served Again?, Open All Hours, Waiting on God, Last of the Summer Wine, Next of Kin, Chef, Vicar of Dibley, To The Manner Borne, My Family, The Ladies and like shows, are great. Yes, we, Americans, laugh, with the show, as we are relating to it, whereas, British audiences seem to laugh at the shows, criticizing them, their society. And Ryan Kelly is right. Never, ever let the truth get in the way of a good story. Crocodile Dundee didn't.
Frankly, I wouldn't mind paying a television tax, if and when it'd get rid of the commercials, and I would insist upon getting a say upon what is show, as I would be a taxpayer, and some of those pounds, going to the British Broadcasting Company, would be mine. I am assuming that the British public does get a say, on what the BBC shows, as the British public does pay taxes to and for the BBC. If not, I think the British public can do written campaigns to parliment and to the BBC, insisting upon this right, and I would advise the same for the south of Ireland, where Dublin is too. Enough of the public petitions, they will have to listen. There is also the Avenue of boycotting television and radio, altogether and boycotting the BBC too, until they listen to the public. Of course, these are just thoughts.
One good thing about PBS is that they do not have to humor greedy advertisers, and they do not have to give tours, where you're always sold something, paraphrasing the travel-guru, Rick Steves. So, yes, I am quite proud of PBS. Thank you.
Ebensberger.
Canada Misses You :)
Please come back to Nova Scotia for another show. Halifax loves you guys
Christine
Early Show
Looks like I might have to miss the Early Show on Saturday. It might rain here.
I don't care if the guys are only on ten minutes. If I miss it, I am SO asking for a copy. *growl*
great dancing !!
hi paul. you did a great job on the new IE DVD with your dance number.i would love to see you on Broadway for real, maybe in something like "phantom of the opera? Great show !you are so talented and versatile, as are all the guys.watching the energy, talent, and love of what you do when you all perform always lifts my spirits and makes me smile cause it is so hard to find decent shows to watch in this day of "anything goes". you guys are cute, flirty, sexy, etc. but you always handle yourselves in good taste
hats off to sharon, phil, and you guys for great shows!!
Thank You
4/6/2010:
You took some of the words, right out of my mouth! Thank you!
Paul Byrom and Sarah Brightman would be excellent together, in Phantom of the Opera, on Broadway, or in Carnagie Hall! I would love to see the show, on PBS! Thanks for the suggestion! I hope that will happen, some day and that PBS would broadcast it! Celtic Thunder is total-non-stop-action-class!

Saturday Early Morning Show
Hi Ct fans...Is anyone driving in from New Jersey fro the show Saturday morning??
karen
CT On Early Show?! YAY!!!
So it's confirmed the guys will be on then this weekend?! YYYAAAYYY!!! I'm jumping up and down right now, though not literally. *g* I'll have to record it though, since I have to go out on Saturday.
It's on from 9 am to 11 am, right? WWWWEEE!!! The last time I got this excited over watching the Early Show is when I recorded it back when the BackStreet Boys were on in 2001.
I can't wait to watch! AND I was watching the PBS show again last night! I still laugh everytime I hear all the guys comments. *giggle* I recorded it again, but it was cutting out so much last night, that I decided to keep the first copy. Neither one was all that great though. PBS is apparently having some sort of issues lately. *growl*
Hugs to Paul...and I'll be watching you and the rest of the guys on the Early Show and on QVC! YAY!
And I totally agree about the comment about too many reality shows on TV. We could DEFINITELY do without any more of those. Ugh.
I'm worried I won't get to
I'm worried I won't get to see it.
Do you think Sharon will post the video of it on here? I hope so.

PBS
Hi Paul,
How are you? Watched the show twice this past weekend (Friday and Saturday) on our PBS stations in Chicago (one is actually out of Indiana but our cable gets it). SO wonderful to see you guys! The new show is fantastic!! The name, It's Entertainment, is very fitting!! IT IS VERY ENTERTAINING!!! I loved the in studio visits. You guys are hysterical!! After watching the show on Saturday night, I then listened to ALL 4 of the CD's!! I didn't get to sleep until 2:00 am CST!! My dear, I am so very grateful to Sharon for finding all of you fantastic performers to become Celtic Thunder!! Long may you have the kind of success you so richly deserve. I think you have truly taken North America and Canada by storm and in such a short time too!!! Celtic Thunder rules!!
I agree with you that PBS is a wonderful outlet of special programing like your shows and others like it, kids programs, educational, movies, etc. Hey without PBS, we never would have known about Celtic Thunder!! In this economy, it is tough for these stations to get the funding needed to continue but hopefully things will get better soon and they will survive. Ya get kinda tired of all the reality shows and crap like that. PBS can give you good, "alternative" programming. Well, take care of yourself. All the best to you and the lads! Hope to see you in Chicago again soon!!
Love,
Tammy
P.S. Are you planning a new solo CD any time soon? Would love it!!
HEY PAUL
hey just wanted to say something to you. By the way i was kinda pissed when the show blacked out during "Hard to say im sorry." Idk if that happened anywhere else but it happend in st.louis. Anyway good luck nd god bless nd see you oct 22nd
PBS Contributor
Yes, you are right. It is really quite amazing how both PBS and NPR systems work. It is because of contributions that we were able to discover talent like yours.
I discovered your show by clicking through the channels one evening, paused on pbs when you were singing. I had no idea who or what Celtic Thunder was. Since then, I have contributed to my PBS station in Jax (Jacksonville),Florida.
PBS promo
Watched both you and Damian on KETC St. Louis tonight. It was great. I bought my tickets, but couldn't get the platinum, maybe next time. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
PBS shows in PA
Good Evening Sharon! It was so nice to meet you! You are GORGEOUS!! I wanted to again THANK YOU and Keith & Neil for a wonderful PBS promotional tour in Wilkesbarre, PA and Bethlehem, PA!! It is so wonderful how accessible the guys are, and so sweet and down to earth. My daughter (Gia) has been telling EVERYONE about her meeting with all of you! Many of our friends tuned in, and experienced Celtic Thunder for the first time, and were extremely impressed! They also loved listening to Keith/Neil on air interviews! Their "warmth" comes across to all of us, when they talk. We got Meet & Greets for both Reading & FM Kirby! *It felt great to be able to support our local PBS, and also get such wonderful tickets and M&G with the guys! (and Gia was dialing the phone, b/c the lads were getting on the phones for the M&G...so THANK YOU!!). My entire family just adores them!! (especially wee Gia, lol). You will have our continued support for your great entertainment Sharon. My hat is off to you and the lads! You all work so hard to provide such fine, family-oriented music. We are just soooooo thankful to all of you!!! You have certainly brightened up this home, especially after this weekend of meeting them, twice, lol!! Gia will not turn the DVD off, lol. We are looking forward to the Fall tour. Oh, and I forgot to mention: The one gift we got for you, is so that when you eat out, you can hang your purse from the table, and not have to put it on the ground! See you at QVC...many many are SUPER excited, and energetic to show our love to all of you!!! Warmest Regards, Francine and Gia!!!
Ooopss
Sorry Paul!! This was supposed to go on Sharon's blog! But, while I am here.....we cannot wait to see you at QVC!!!! Are you ready for all of us crazy fans to descend on you?!?!? LOL!!! Francine

I enjoyed your blog. I agree
I enjoyed your blog. I agree that PBS provides a lot for the communities. In my younger years my own children were regular fans of "Sesame Street." Now I have grandsons (Yes, 4 under the age of 4) who watch Elmo, and Dinasaur Train on a regular basis. I pledge for them. I want them to have these programs available. And for myself-Yes! I enjoy watching-Whats that group?-Celtic Thunder!!!!! Have you seen them-they're really good. No, Great!!!!! (HA!!) Actually, we discoverd you on KETC, St. Louis, where you will be airing tonight. We were channel surfing when we had to stop and watch Damian sing, Puppy Love. My husband and I looked at one another and asked if that big voice came from such a young man. We couldn't make the first show, however, because of other commitments, but we were there last year and plan to go again this year. Wouldn't mind a meet and greet either. The sun is shining in St. Louis, so hope you enjoy your day here.

PBS show
Hey Paul! *POUNCE* I watched the PBS show from the Fort Myers area. Not sure where the pledge breaks were recorded though, since all you guys were in the studio. I'm not even sure which part of Florida that station (WGCU) brocasts from. *confused* Anyway, I LOVED you on there. I loved the interaction between you and Keith....and I loved your 'If you don't have a phone, send a pidgeon' comment. *giggle* It's nice to see all of you guys back on TV again. I missed the 'Take Me Home' show when it was on PBS, because I had no clue it was even on.
I can't wait to see you guys on QVC and on the CBS morning show! (I think). Have fun on St. Patrick's day! *Hugs* I'll probably be sitting here doing nothing...as usual. *grumble*

News from the wilderness
Hey Swankybuns
I love the life on the road stories it's interesting to hear how you make it all work and that more or less enjoy the experience. We all love when CT is in the USA.
Watched Ryan and George KQED charm the PBS host and great deal of at home viewers-phones were busy. I got my ticks for the San francisco show as well as Seattle and am excited to see the show.
I so agree about PBS they do shows that you will not see anywhere else. I love Master Piece Theater and all the Brit mystery shows. I even pledge when you guys are not around.
Pleas keep sending us more updates on the adventures of Paul and Damion on the road. >^,,^<
Paul
Thank-you so much Paul for that little glimpse of what it is like on the road for you guys. What a wonderful write-up, so interesting to read and funny too! I was a volunteer last night at a PBS in Wilkes Barre and it was my first time. It was so cool to see how the whole process works and to meet Keith, Neil and Sharon. I keep thinking about it all day today. Thank-you for bringing such joy to us here in the states! Hopefully, someday I will get to meet the rest of the crew.
Karen from New Jersey

Good Stuff
Oh my gosh,Paul! What a great Blog! I love your writings.
So glad you are having fun along the way. Stay safe and let us
hear from you again when you have time. Thanks so much.
Uniquely Special
Excellent, Paul. Thank you for this update - insight to life on the road. Thank you for embracing the challenges, reminding us of our uniquely special vulnerable American institutions like PBS.
Everyone makes a contribution to the success of PBS - if your PBS sponsored, employed by PBS or a PBS viewer.
(Nice to briefly meet you in San Diego last November.)
