Spring Cleaning - April 20, 2010
Hello,
Was antsy today and decided to spring clean the flat in NY. Soo sorry I started, place is in a mess now (don't you hate that when you start out to clean everything and end up with piles of stuff to sort out?)
Gave it up then and watched a romantic movie on TV, seemed like a better plan.
Will probably end up spending the weekend sorting everything I pulled out to clean up!
Flights starting again so everyone should get to where they need to go by the weekend.

Spring cleaning
Let's see... clean the house or watch a movie...which would be better? Yeah, I agree with you a romantic movie is a much better idea. Besides those piles that you made while cleaning will just "have babies" and grow out of control. The volcano also grew out of control. My supervisior was "stuck" in Dublin. Poor thing. There would certainly be worse places to be stuck but I guess after three days of looking at the inside of an airport anywhere would start to lose its charm. Hope all your family make it home safe and sound.

LOL . . . I would do exactly what u did but yes, you'd eventually have to do it.

The hard part is what to toss and what to keep I find the best time to do that is when I'm pissed and feeling ruthless
but it is satisfying feeling when you are done there are ,of course, much nicer ways to engender that feeling.

Spring Cleaning
As I get older, I find myself doing things on a smaller scale, because like you, I too decide to sit down and watch a movie, favorite program, etc. etc. I take more time to smell the roses. Any project I start and do not finish will be there tomorrow and guaranteed my kitty cats are not going to help. I am the type of person who will start one project and then start another project and pretty soon I have so many of them I do not know which one to finish first.
Glad to hear flights in europe are starting again. When I was in CA in November, the fog kept me from leaving at 7:30am to catch my connecting flight in Phoenix then to RI and I didn't like having to wait until 3pm to finally leave Orange County. I can't imagine being stranded for days maybe even a week or more to leave to fly home. Mother Nature sure knows how to mess things up a bit, doesn't she?

Frankly, I hate cleaning, at any time of the year. Had I the money, I would pay a maid for that purpose. Anyway, this passed week-end, I found myself enjoying the Celtic Thunder "It's Entertainment" show, on my local PBS station, in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro Area. Really, I would like to see Celtic Thunder, on Great Performances, on Sound Stage or even on Austin City Limits, because they are Celtic Thunder, and they're awesome! While waiting for Celtic Thunder, I caught the Celtic Woman show, and it was excellent too! It was Celtic Woman, "Songs of the Heart", and that show was also on the same television station. Can't wait for Celtic Thunder's next gig, on PBS! All the best! Ebensberger.

I have a recommendation for you ladies who are overwhelmed by spring cleaning and housework in general: go the Flylady,net.
Flylady teaches us how to overcome CHAOS which stands for Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome. Her method works and the results are spectacular! I’ve been using her system for several years. My house is not completely under control but little by little it is happening. Right now the process has been slowed a bit: a compression fracture to my spine. The house is still manageable – with a little help from friends.
The best part of Flylady’s system is the encouragement she gives us.
Cleaning and Sorting
Sounds so familiar! In January, we returned from our Christmas vacation to find a leaking pipe which flooded over into a guest bedroom forcing us to clear out everything, clean, repair, paint and recarpet. So then we decided to recarpet our entire home at the same time. Could never have guessed what an undertaking that would become. Even after sending bags and bags of clothing and items to a Haiti relief yard sale and donating children's toys to our homeless shelter pre-school program, I am left with quite a few things to sort out. They are now residing in the corner of another room until I get inspired to resume my project. It won't just disappear so maybe I'll work on a couple of items per day until it's done. Good luck getting yours' completed. What a good feeling that will be!
Spring Cleaning????
I hear you. With 4 kids this Spring cleaning stuff takes me til Fall only to start over again.
It be nice if they could help. It gets overwhelming and heaven forbid you throw out something they need or want. Time to listen to music and soothe the anguish. lol 
On a happy note, glad to hear that everyone will be getting back to their destinations. Take care.
I did manage to get dresses
I did manage to get dresses arranged on one side of the closet, jeans and sweaters on shelves on the other side before I did just what you did, GO off on something more appealing,(I think it was to go outside). Now what to do with everything else in the middle or on the floor. So much for that little burst of energy and motivation

don't you just hate that, having more stuff to sort through?? That's why I put it off as long as I can.
I am so glad that flights are slowly getting back to normal so everyone can get to where they need to be. Judging by Paul's twitters though, he seems to make the best of his situation, as usual..
