Hi Guys. Smile So it has been a fair while since i blogged here, so here goes!!
The trip to Texas in May, was, possibly, the strangest thing i have ever done!! We flew for a long time, and arrived there at night. So got a good night's sleep, and had the gig the next day, it was an hours gig maximum, when it was over i think we all looked at each other and laughed!! Because it seemed bizarre that we flew the whole way over, and all of a sudden we were ready to go home!! Had a really great time though!! Smile Unfortunately, on the way over, we had the sad news of George's mum, it was tough on George, but i have alot of respect for George the way he handled. He really can be someone to look up to.

Then it was the canadian trip....that was INCREDIBLE!! 15 thousand people, it was a nervous CT dressing room!!! hahah!!
I then got home to the pressure of having to learn about 6 different, massive monologues for a college show. I got the male lead role through auditions, we did the show mid-way through June, and it was a fantastic experience for me....i really enjoyed it, when i was finished i got a pleasant surprise. The professor told me that she wanted to recommend me to huge acting colleges in London and America....so i was chuffed at that!! Didn't see it coming at all!!
And i got my results out for my first year in college, i got 4 distinctions, 2 merits and 2 passes!! I think i hit the roof with excitement, and slight disbelief!!
So, after that it was time for a huge concert which was being held in Derry for a great cause, suicide. It was in the millennium forum. o i had a week or so to rehearse and pick songs for that. I actually teamed up with Plunkett mcGartland, who is a musical Genius!! He is incredibly talented!! The gig was last night, in front of a sold out Forum, I started off with Elton Johns Sacrifice. I was originally meant to sing Snow Patrol's chasing cars....but i Found out 48 hours before the show another guy was singing that!! So my bro and I stayed up quite late thursday night to pick a song. Thats what we came up with...then i had a day and a half to learn it!!! Then Plunkett came on, and we did a Ronan Keating song-"Your Song"....Then Michael Buble's "Hold on"....then we did "buachaill on eirne"....i have never sang it in derry before, and i really owe alot to that song!!! I finishd off with 'Mac the Knife'. When i looked up at the end of the gig, the crowd were on their feet!! I could not quite believe i got a standing ovation. It was the first time my mates got to see me perform live...so i was determined to make it a good one, just to make sure they didnt think i was making this whole CT thing up!!!! hahaha!!
It was an incredible feeling last night, i cant describe it!! Just amazing. There was video's put up of the performances, the quality isn't great at all, but it is better than nothing and will give you all an idea!! Here they are....Smile
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLqIIYN1SsY .....Sacrifice!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpJNLudbHfs ....Hold on
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg2dbB5TMQU ...Your song
So thanks for reading this, and i will give you all a Damian McGinty promise that i will do a weekly blog, starting from now, throughout my summer!! Smile You have my word!!
It's the Holidays....YEEEEHHHAAA!!!!!
Thanks for everything guys, and all your support continues to be overwhelming!!
See you all soon....
Damian.

Wow.. Thats all i can say! :)

Damian, when you sang,"Your Song", it made me cry, because it reminded me of my late brother. I was crying also when you sang,"Hold On," because it made me realize that we all need someone to hold on to and to hold us, no matter who we are. Your performances are so beautiful, they tug at my heartstrings!(the tears are the good kind though.) Thank you for these especially touching performances. Oh, and I also like your song,"Unanswered Prayers." Please consider recording these songs on a future album, they are amazing and truly show your talent. God Bless.

Good 4 you!

Good for you Damian. I am so happy that your posting again! Thanks! My mom is supposed to get tickets for you guys in Sacremento and I am sooooooo excited!!!!!!!!! Thanks again!

Congradulations

Congrats on school! Wish I was doing that well in my freshmen year of high school. I am fifteen now sixteen on December second. I am so confused though. I have a Damian McGinty on face book but I am not sure if it's you. If so then you know me Nickz. You did really well on your last show with From The Heart. Wish I could sing that good. I want to be a singer some day but I have no idea how to get started. If I became a singer my late Grandfather would be happy because I would do some thing that I enjoy doing. He was the only one in my family that said I had a good voice. He was also very proud of me for me working with horses and showing them. I have a box full of ribbons to show for it.

God Bless You Mr. McGinty!
Nicole

Waves and Grades

Hi Damien! You have incredible talent and I really enjoy watching your performances. I think my latest favorite song of you personally is "Home". When I listen to it, I really feel like I do want to be home just then. You're great in "Standing On The Corner" too. Congratulations on your grades as well, that's a great accomplishment. Sounds like things are getting busy, I hope you get some time to relax before you head on over to our side of the pond to make some major waves! Smile See you in the Fall!

Concerts and Grades and George

Damian:
7/14/2010:

Congratulations on the good grades! It's an excellent start!

Congratulations on your successful concert too!

As for as heroes and heroines go, in this era, such afe extremely few and extremely far in between! It sounds like George Donaldson is a real hero! You are blessed to have him! Sounds like he falls into the class of a Coach Tom Landry here. You can learn more about Coach Tom Landry at: www.biography.com here and put Tom Landry's name in the search box. You might also find him at: www.dallascowboys.com or at: www.nfl.com too.

For me, one of my heroes, growing up, was Coach Landry. I never knew the man, myself, but the things, I have seen, when watching an American football game, on Sundays, when he was coaching the Dallas Cowboys, the news stories, I'd heard about him and the stuff, I have read about him, made me see him as a hero! He was the first Coach, the Dallas Cowboys ever had and the greatest coach the Dallas Cowboys ever had, but not because of his win-loss records or the Super Bowl Rings and trophies, he'd led the team to, over his twenty-nine year career, but because of the man, he was, both on and off the field! True heroes and heroines are also, sadly, a dying breed, so I do not lavish such compliments lightly!
So, it sounds like Donaldson is a great man, both on and off the stage, following in the footsteps of Coach Landry! Moreover, it's not because of the hits, he's sung or the awards, he's gotten, as a performer, in music either, but it is because of the man, he is, both on and off the stage, both publicly and privately, whether, with others or alone! There is a huge difference, between a man and a gentleman, and it sounds like he is a true gentleman! That's cool! As for losing his Mum! It's hard to lose a loved one, and I do not know which is more difficult. Is it being away, when one loses a loved one, or is it watching a loved one, graduate into eternity, and knowing that nothing can be done about it? Either way, it hurts, like a son of a ...... So, I hope he has someone to talk to about that, when he's upset. I would like to know what all he did, in handling it so well. Maybe, I can learn how to handle such things better than I had handled the loss of my maternal grandmother, back on July 11, 1996, between six and half-passed six, in the evening, D/FW Metro Time, under daylight savings time.
I have friends, who are an evangelist and a women's ministry leader, who are a hero and a heroine to me. They, also, as far as I am concerned, very much fall into Coach Landry's class of heroes and heroines. They fight really hard to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, in the man and the woman, they are, at all times. Unfortunately, they are leaving the D/FW Metro Area, but if and when God says that they got to go, then, they got to go. So, I respect that, because they are stepping out, in faith, but not only for their own spiritual health, but also for our spiritual health. Their names are Marvin and Sharisse. Marvin is a true gentleman, and Sharisse is a true lady too! There is a difference between a woman and a lady, and Sharisse is a lady, a true lady! I will miss this family so very much! Anyway, Marvin is from Norwich, England, and I will miss getting to hear that English/British accent of his, every so often too.

I love you guys's music and singing. You guys should speak more too, as I love the Scottish-Irish accents too, as well as the Cockney and the Yorkshire accents. For me, the accents and the vocabulary are so different, so interesting and so refreshing to listen to, though, with the vocabulary, I have to listen and read a bit further to figure out what all is being said. That's why I watch River Monsters, with Jeremy Wade, on Animal Planet, partly. I love hearing that accent, and I love listening to him speak. For a lot of the same reasons, I watch Wild Recon, with Donald Schults, on Animal Planet. Shultz is from South Africa, but, partly, I love listening to him speak, with that highly British accent of his.

Sorry that you guys did not get to remain, in Texas very long! I'm sure that you guys would have found our accents interesting as well.

Great job! Best wishes! Ebensberger.

Hello Damian!
It's fun to hear from you again! Congatulations on all of your achievements! You've got something real good going for you! =) I've got to tell you that I've always loved Michael Buble's music...I have all of his cd's and it kind of bothers me when sing songs and "ruin" them, but you don't! I still love the way you sing his songs! That's a real compliment coming from me since I love his music ALOT. =)
It seems to me that you have some real high values in life Damian...Hold on to them! And keep being such a great guy that we can all look up to.
May God keep blessing you in all you do,
SueEllen Jonsson

Please send a splendid voice and song of Damian to us.
I can watch a voice and a picture of Damian in Japan. I am happy.
I go to hear a song of Damian in Houston in November. Live

concert

Hey Damian,

The reason for the concert Is to help people from making the mistake they can't come back from and can affect almost anyone in one form or another. I think it is such a wonderful thing when any artist gives back in whatever form it might be in order to help prevent perhaps someone (we might know) from making such a Final choice. You and all who performed and of course the audience all had a hand in perhaps saving a life.
You mention that it was a full house, and your mates and I am sure loads of family were on hand as well. I think you made them all very proud to see you do such a great job and how much your audiances love what you do.
I thought that when you had to go and pick another song instead of the one you had originally chosen was a tough spot to be in, and I have to say your brother is a cool guy to help you, into the night , so you could pick and then learn a new song is such a short time.
I also want say CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!! on how well you did at College, you worked on a very short deadline but did your best so you deserve such good results.
Lastly I also want to say Your professor must see potential in you in order to be recommending you to two different Acting Colleges.
Well Damian I am counting the days till I get to see you and the lads in the new tour. I am extremely lucky to be coming to the Halifax show (I am from Dartmouth which is accross the harbour from Halifax.) Then I have M&G for the concert in Everett cause I live just accross the border in British Columbia.

hi

damian

I think you do amazing on all of your songs...even though you only had a day for you to learn them...haha. i also think it was special for your mates to see you perform..haha i dont think they thought you were making the whole ct thing up. well have an excellent summer...i know i am,and keep your promise on the blog thing i would like to know what you guys are up to.
sincerly,
kristina

Hi Damian,

So nice to get a lengthy blog from you and sharing with your fans your accomplishments. You have a lot to be proud of. Congrats on completing your first year of college. The first is usually the hardest--big step from high school to college. Maybe you can tell your CT fans who live in America what distinctions, merits and passes mean. Is that like A, B, and C's? I really enjoy the twitters all of you guys post. All of you seem to have a good sense of humor. It starts my morning of with a good laugh or two. Keep them coming!!!! Is there a chance CT will do a show in the future and you can sing "Sacrifice" and "Mack the Knife"? Am looking forward to seeing CT in concert in Oct at the Wang theater and I also plan on seeing the concert in Providence, RI in December. I really am excited Sharon is doing a show that includes Christmas songs.
This blog is getting too long!!!!!! Take care and have a wonderful summer.

Dee

Hi Damian,

Congrats on that and all your accomplishments so far with the schooling........Your living your life , the way you want !!! You seem really happy..........Have a good Holiday with the summer.

Good times, Donna

congrats

To Damian
sounds like u have done very well for yourself outside of celtic thunder as well. That is really great. It really shows that you love to be on the stage, that you where bone to be a star.
From the frist time i heard celtic thunder on my friends i pod i was like wow these guys harmonize beauifully that they sound as one. Yet can still hear the individual character that each singer brings to the piece. YOu bring the young innocence, Keith bringsthe romantic flow,Ryan adds just a little bit of cheaky,George holds you all together, and Paul adds the little bit of sweet just on top. Those are the sounds that contribute to the final product of a beautiful sound. Another thing that shows that you all where ment for the stage is that you have fun with what you do. You all add your own flair to what is to be preformed and the key is you have fun with it. That makes a great preformer for if the preformer has fun the peaple will see that and well have fun as well.
Well I look forword to reading more in the near future.

love thunderesta

Conratulations

Damian,

Great Job!!

Hold On

Damian Im so happy you sang Hold On!! That song is one of my favorite Michael Buble songs. You did such a great job singing it!! Smile

<3

Damo blog, yay!

I was starting to wonder if you'd forgotten how to use the blogs, Damo! Glad to see you haven't, and you can be sure we'll hold you to your promise of weekly updates. Wink

That does sound incredible! I was glad to have you all back in our fair country for your concerts, even though I wasn't able to attend. I'm glad you enjoyed Montreal and Thunder Bay and I'm super excited to see y'all in Buffalo next September. Laughing out loud

You did a fantastic job at your benefit concert too. Even though I can't understand what you're saying in those vids (darned sound quality Wink ) I can hear you singing pretty well. You just keep getting better and better! Mac the Knife blew me away; so powerful! And congrats on your lead male role and getting recommended to those big colleges too. I'm really proud of you, though I suppose we shouldn't have expected you to be any less than amazing. Laughing out loud

Thank you for the blog, Damo! I really love reading them; I can really tell how enthusiastic you are about life when I read them (and your Tweets) and you write like we're as much your friends as your fans which is very much appreciated. Tweets are fun and all, but personally I'd always take a blog, given the choice. I look forward to the next one. Laughing out loud

Take care, now! Enjoy your time off while you can... the tour will be here before you know it! Laughing out loud

Frank Sinatra

Damian. I read a letter from someone in the local newspaper asking about doing a life story of Frank Sinatra with Harry Connick Jr. He said he couldn't do it right now.

I am about to find out where to write to suggest you for the role. I realize you are still a little young, but Frank started out when he was about your age, got popular at about the age of 26, and looked younger than that.

Since I think it is easier to make a young person up to look older, than it is an older person to look younger, I think you would be ideal for the part. So I am going to try and find out where, and who, to contact to suggest that you would be perfect for the part.

Especially if they wait about two more years (not longer, though, because I want to see it). I just think you would be a sensation in playing the life of that marvelous man.

Anyone else to reads this (I don't know if Damian will), please send me the information about his agent. I'll also write this to Sharon.

Congratulations!!

Thanks for the update!! It's so nice that so many new people get to hear you sing!! You are so talented and the more people who find out, the better it is!! Congratulations on your school and all that you do!! We'll be waiting for all your new blogs!! Take care!!

I'm proud of you Damian

I'm so proud that you are doing so good in school, as I'm sure everyone else is. You never know what is going to happen in life, so it is always good to have something else to back you up. Who knows, you may end up helping Sharon with the shows later on. I loved the songs that you sang for the concert, you did a great job, like usual. You deserved a standing ovation. I would have given you one also if I had been there. I really appreciate all the hard work you do, and sharing it on You Tube.

Wonderful!

This is all wonderful news, Damian!! I watched your videos and they were amazing!! I wish you continued success in all that you do Laughing out loud
