Oprah - August 9, 2010

Hello,

One of our fans Tracy sent me this link. Looks like Oprah is taking pitches for show ideas/features/artists etc.

Might help if enough fans suggest Celtic Thunder to her researchers to get CT onto Oprah. I know she's always looking for an angle so if you can think of one, use it!

Promoting the world's favorite Irish lads

Thanks for the link to Oprah's Show. I just emailed my thoughts of Celtic Thunder along with hopes that they feature them in an upcoming show for her final year on air in Chicago.

Oprah show

Thanks, Sharon, for the imfo and web link for Oprah, Several of my friends and family members in Ohio have done our part to hopefully get "Our Boys" on her show!! That would certainly give them national exposure - and every little bit helps! Thank you for keeping us 'in the loop' about Celtic Thunder and suggestions as to what we can do to help. Their show is fantastic - and suitable for all ages!! Will be starting the tour in Poughkeepsie, then in Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. We were planning on Columbus but it was moved to Sept. 26th and I had promised my granddaughter that we would go to Niagara Falls the following day while we were in Buffalo!! Will still be trying to pick up another show or two. Would like to meet you someday to thank you in person for all you do to help these talented young men. But for now - THANK YOU!!!

Oprah

I've sent a suggestion to Oprah saying:....

"I'm recommending a unique group of six men from Ireland called "Celtic Thunder" for an interview with Oprah.
In March 2009, they opened the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in New York City, and later that day performed for President Obama, Mrs. Obama and Taoiseach Brian Cowen at the White House.
These men are from ages 17 to 40... they are entertaining, talented, energetic, handsome and most of all Irish... with one from Scotland!! It will be one of the most exciting and entertaining interviews she will ever do.
They have toured North America to sell-out crowds for the past two years and will do so again this fall! They aren't any fly by night group. They are so polished, professional and hardworking. Their musical director is the famous Phil Coulter.
Here's a link to their website which shows the latest video giving an overview of the latest show "It's Entertainment".. http://celticthunder.ie/ "

I never watch oprah show, but

I never watch oprah show, but I just went and suggested them, I hope they get on ad if they do please post the date so I can catch that show!

Oprah

Sharon,
After writing a heart-rending essay on how the men are saving PBS with their many personal appearances, I was unable to "send' the darn thing to Oprah! What's up with that? I kept getting bounced off the site! Too much traffic maybe?

Hi Sharon, I also added my two cents and pleaded to have the lads on the Oprah show. That would be great if it could happen. I also entered the contest to win two tickets to the fall show. Take care and God Bless. With love and prayers, Bill from Gary, Indiana

CT ON OPRAH

Hi Sharon. I was pleased to suggest to Oprah to invite the 6 CT lads during her final season. May she find our requests appealing and have some interest in asking them to be a part of her program. By the way, what happened to the requests for CT to appear on the Ellen DeGenneres show?!? Well, one can only hope and wish for the best to have them on Oprah, that would be wonderful to see!! Thanks for the suggestion and may there be many more requests to Oprah from loyal CT fans.

CT on Oprah

I added my 2 cents to get them on Oprah. Hope it helps. I didn't want to beg-maybe I'll try that later!

Yes Sharon I sent Oprah an

Yes Sharon I sent Oprah an E-mail wishing our Lads a chance to get on stage with her before she calls it quits next yr.as well. Was VERY HAPPY to see about the contest to a show CT is putting on BUT when I tried to enter it said for USA people only. I wonder why they don't do the same for Canada. Heck, they haven't even started advertising the CT concert on TV or any type of advertising for the Halifax show in Sept.yet I don't know what the heck the Promoters are waiting for. There is only about 41 days left till showtime. If they keep snoozing, CT will be loosing for sure. Here in Cape Breton, my friend and I are doing ALL WE CAN to get the word out. Enjoy your day Sharon and Thank you once again for ALL the work you and Phil do and are doing to provide us with what I think is the BEST MUSIC GOING!!!!

Funny thoughts!

Sharon,
I was just thinking about all of us. You know, you have your very own little ARMY to do your bidding!*LOL* All you have to do is make a request, and WHOOSH, we all come to your side ready to do whatever you ask! (Ha Ha) it's okay though, we are happy to do it!! Love Nancy K.

Awesome Idea

Hello Sharon:
I was more than happy to send a note to Oprah. Would love to see CT on her show.
So looking forward to seeing you and the guys in Sept. in Halifax, Nova Scotia and again in Everette at Comcast Arena. Enjoy your travels, see you soon. Take care my friend.

The Oprah Show

I have to agree about all the depressing news we here of each and every day, About five months ago I had the Oprah idea( sent an email about the Lads) but I was only one person, Oprah has done so many great things in the past 25 years and made a lot of dreams come true, so go to the link fill it in and then cross everything you can. So maybe with a little prayer and a wee bit of Irish luck we ca all make this happen.

CT on Oprah

I suggested it a month ago Smile

Fingers crossed Thunderheads - Smile

I totally agree with

I totally agree with SoughDakota. Hers is everything I would have wanted to say concerning the guys appearing on Oprah

Oprah!

I know there are many Thunderheads out there that discovered or were introducted to Celtic Thunder at a time when they needed something postive, for a variety of reasons. I've always found it amazing how many touching stories there are about someone happening upon this music and these gracious individuals at really just the perfect time.

If you can't figure out what to say in your suggestion to Oprah, just think about what CT really means to you, and if you've had a moment like that, it would be perfect to include it if you feel comfortable sharing your story Smile

Okay, my first message to

Okay, my first message to Oprah wasn't the best but I think this one is better:
Hello Oprah!
I just wanted to say that in these times of depressing news there is a story out there waiting for America to hear. It's the story of Celtic Thunder... 6 Celtic men.. ages 18 to 41 who have taken the heart of America by storm! These six men: Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, George Donaldson, Damian McGinty Jr. Paul Byrom and Neil Byrne, all from Ireland and Scotland have swept through America lifting spirits and spreading their music from coast to coast. Just one song from these incredibly talented men takes you away to the distant green shores of the Emerald Isle and puts a smile on your face that won't soon fade away. Please won't you have them on your show!? They will be in the Chicago area Oct 23, 2010 and I know if they were your guests you'd make thousands and thousands of Celtic Thunder fans VERY VERY happy!!! Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
A Huge Celtic Thunder Fan

Did I do good?

Way to Go South Dakota

No truer words have been spoken. Well done. You've not only shown how truly loved CT is but you have all their ThunderHeads behind you.

South Dakota

Just wanted to say, you wrote a wonderful letter! I'm afraid mine wasn't as good. I still think my sincerity and love for CT shone through! Nancy K.

did you do good?

I think you did really good.

Excellent Deb!

Excellent Deb!

Family

Something else to mention in your notes is that Celtic Thunder is one of the few groups that families can enjoy together. The fanbase has such a wide range of ages that parents and children can go to the concerts together and all have a good time.

Eris:
I did just that. That was my opening line to Oprah.

submitted

I just submitted my vote to Oprah. I wonder if we can vote more then once.

Lyn

Vote?

There's a way to vote? How did you vote, Lyn? Was there a button you clicked somewhere?

Oprah

Ok, I did my part. Crossing fingers that with everyones messages to Oprah, we will be seeing CT on her show before she goes off the air. How exciting would THAT be? Pretty exciting, I'd say. Wink

Oprah!

Been there, did it! I told Oprah the truth; its been a rough year. My husband left, my daughter is sick, my Dad died, and CT was there for it all, singing directly to me. George knew my dad, apparently, and sang about him in The Old Man. Life is better with CT in it. Smile Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

Be careful

Well I sent my suggestion with a warning! Watch Out! You'll fall in love!
I hope all the fans get behind this and we see the lads on Oprah! It would
be so cool! Smile
Linda

Oprah

I submitted my story. I went with a personal story about how their music is helping my son Alex (who is autistic). Alex is one of my (almost) 3 year old twins who very rarely speaks without prompting. Whenever CT is played, he comes right out of his shell, singing and moving to the music if it's an upbeat song or relaxing if it's slower. My 6 year old daughter and I were fans before but now we are all fans (including my hard rock loving hubby)! I can't thank you enough for bringing CT to us, Sharon and Phil!

Music and Autism

My grandson has Asperger's. The music from Celtic Thunder has helped him in soooo many ways too!!! Have you checked out the song/video "Bird Without Wings" sung by 14 yr old Damian?? It encapsulates just what our children would say to us IF they COULD!! I cry every time I hear this song. This is a great point to make because the tight harmony is why our children respond so well to their music. If you need a shoulder to lean on,... I have many resources and successful ideas to share. My e- mail is rrshutran2005@yahoo.com.

Oprah show

I added my endorsement-hope it helps, would love to see them on this show--what the heck, any show. thanks Jan Ford, Denver

oprah

Hi Sahron just completed the request on her link.
I approached it differnt then the last fan hope I didn't do it wrong. I explained how they have fans from 3 to 93 and that they share thier lives with us daily. That they have given so much of them self in three short years to help fans like myself a senior with nothing in life to look forward to but living a great life through the 5 lads. Also told her the great value that the teens and young people are learning from Damiain and Keith sharing the sports and fun they have with out bad language, drugs or anything improper. They also have helped so many children in africa , they help with thier talent against suiside , sport clubs in local comunnity. That they share the hard time like family deaths, good times like vacations and just daily times like babysitting, taking violin lesson, building funiture, spending time with family before they come to spend months with us each fall. I requested she help all of us in the USA that owe these lads so much for being part of our families could she please help them now by having them on her show and see the instanct love she will feel once she talks to them and the thousands they can reach and help with her show as they have helped so many of us. and it was hard to write all that in 2000 words used a lot of text words lol can't believe
I knew some but have learned them from the teens on the pub by lurking there all the time.

Oprah Show

I entered an angle of "Where did THEY come From??" or "Musical Phenomenas". She is a smart cookie and she wil want to end her shows run on an unforgetable note. I can not think of a more memorable one than these gentlemen, on Oprah and a nice cup of tea!!!!!!!!!!!! I look forward to seeing the show in Detroit. It is my birthday present!!!!! Thanks for being intelligent enough to put this together, you bless us with every song they sing and every show they perform!!!!! Vio con Dios Rita
